Actor Name: TISHA CAMPBELL-MARTIN

Tisha Campbell-Martin is the epitome of multifaceted. There’s barely an artistic medium that she hasn’t conquered. Best known as an actress, she more recently displayed a more dramatic edge on Lifetime’s “The Protector.” Previously, she garnered an NAACP Image Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role opposite Damon Wayans on ABC’s “My Wife and Kids,” which remains one of the top ten syndicated shows worldwide. She also directed an episode. Between that and her roles on “Rita Rocks” and “Martin,” she’s been nominated an additional seven times. Other forays into television include “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “All of Us,” “A Different World” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” which led to her friendship with Will Smith for whom she’s appeared in two music videos.

That said, another passion of Campbell-Martin is singing. At 16, she made her film debut opposite Steve Martin in the cult classic “Little Shop of Horrors,” and eventually released an album that featured the hit single “Push.” She’s since gone on to star in more than a dozen films including “School Daze,” “Another 48 Hrs.,” “Boomerang,” in which she again appeared with Eddie Murphy, “Sprung” and “House Party” (1, 2 and 3), the first of which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She co-wrote the movie “The Seat Filler” with her husband, actor Duane Martin, whom she met while filming the TV pilot “Moe’s World,” and also starred with the likes of Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks in the comedy “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.”

An avid philanthropist, Campbell-Martin was the national spokesperson for Yoplait yogurt encouraging healthy active lifestyles for African American women. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband and their two sons, the eldest of whom was the inspiration for her latest title as a producer of the documentary film “Colored My Mind” (www.ColoredMyMind.com) which strives to shed light on the plight of disease amidst minorities. This short docu-feature was shown at the 2013 Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the American Pavilion in Cannes and won the award for Best Emerging Filmmaker Documentary. The project has been so well received that she made her second visit to our nation’s capital where she spoke in front of Congress.
